I really enjoy the simplicity and informal approach the writers took to describing each of the authors. It made me instantly feel comfortable, where literature often makes even intelligent people uncomfortable to consider and to read. I bought it for the chapter on Alice Munro, who I've always struggled to read, but now I'm definitely considering picking up some Margaret Atwood.

I found several of my favorite authors listed, and discovered several new names I have to check out. I have some good reading in my future!
Lots of these authors, I've heard of, and some of them, I never did. A fan of the writing at Book Riot, the commentary did not disappoint. Added quite a few of these books to my to-read list. Surprised how many essays and short stories made the list. Take this with you to the bookstore or go through like I did, add on Goodreads, and go about your bookish life.
I don't know whether there were such a book like this before , but this simplest idea does help for us readers who always got confused on starting to read some author's works because we're so overwhelmed by them. Keep them coming BOOKRIOT )
WARNING Prepare your book buying budget before reading this book or find a good library. This is an excellent introduction to 25 great authors, and by the time you've made your way through this guide you'll have plenty to read or re-read.

My dilemma after reading through this book was which great author to start with out of the 25. Maybe the Book Riot crew will write that book next.
