Twenty years ago, Amanda Tedlock's life changed forever when her little sister drowned in Lake George, New York. Reviewed by Kirsty Win for QUEERcentric Books\In Falling for Summer, Amanda Tedlock is a very driven and focused businesswoman living in New York City. But even with her successes, she is still struggling with the death of her younger sister Tiffany. She should have been there the night her ten-year-old sister drowned in a lake—it is her greatest mistake.
Amanda has carried around so much regret in the twenty years since her sister's death that it has affected all of her personal relationships.
At the urging of her best friend, she returns to her hometown of Lake George, New York, where her sister died, to confront her ghosts and face her regrets head on. As much as she wants to deal with it all alone, she is inexplicably drawn to Summer McBride, who happens to be a childhood friend of her sister.
THEIR JOURNEY IS AS MUCH ABOUT LETTING GO OF WHAT HOLDS THEM BACK AS IT IS ABOUT STARTING A NEW RELATIONSHIP
I loved how Essex interwove the romance between Amanda and Summer while they dealt with their grief of twenty years: the loss of a sister and of a best friend. Their journey is as much about letting go of what holds them back as it is about starting a new relationship. Letting go allows for the healing that these two women need to move forward to begin living again.
Summer was my favourite of the two women, though there is a scene-stealer character in Gramma Morrie, the old woman who runs the general store in Lake George. Her spirited interactions with Amanda are a good contrast to the sweetness of the developing love between Amanda and Tiffany.
I was captivated from the start by this story. I finished the book in two sittings; it would have been one, but there is a smoking hot sex scene that shouldn't be read on a crowded bus!
Falling For Summer is different from the F/F romances I usually read. In this case it was definitely a good thing. The character growth in Falling for Summer makes me want to check out more of Bridget Essex’s books.

Another r awesome read
Essex has a way to capture your heart and the details of a story. This is just a slice of her work but a great way to get aquatinted with the author. Essex's other series and longer stories allow your imagination to run wild. If you like this one don't stop until you've read them all.
Thank you so much Ms. Essex. What a heartbreaking and truly beautiful story. I could read so much more about these characters. Thank you for the wonderful gift. ) Juli
Tender and very touching. It was not an easy life for Summer and Mandy. But love can be very powerful. Bridget has described this very well and have touched a soft spot in me, as always.
This story was really captivating. Amanda is so haunted by her sister's death that her life is now ruled by the affect it had on her personality. The descriptions of Lake George were beautiful, evocative, and nostalgic, tinged with the horror and pain that overtook Amanda's life after her sister's accidental drowning. Her attraction to Summer is electric, and Summer's involvement in her past is poignant and very well done. I loved how this took place over only a few days but there was so much emotion and so much at stake. The passion was as tangible as the massive thunderstorm (my favorite scene!).
This was a sweet and gentle story. The love between Amanda & Summer is sweet and healing. The regret that both women share over decisions made 20 years ago casts dark shadows over their lives. Only the coming together and the cleansing effect of the love they shared for Tiffany and the shared guilt can bring about the changes they both need to be able to begin living their lives again. A beautiful story.
